Names of Allah
Al-‘Aziz (The Mighty)
Reflection:
Al-‘Azīz (ٱلْعَزِيز) means the All-Mighty, the Unassailable One whose power cannot be overcome. It embodies honor, strength, and invincibility, yet always harmonized with wisdom and mercy. Allah’s might is not harsh dominance — it is perfect authority grounded in justice and compassion. To believe in Al-‘Aziz is to find security in His protection and dignity in servitude to Him alone. Every victory, deliverance, and moment of resilience is a sign of His might supporting the believer without arrogance or oppression.

Notes:
- Al-‘Aziz appears around 90 times, frequently coupled with Al-Hakim (The Wise), showing power guided by wisdom, never tyranny.
- Al-Anfal (8) and Al-Tawbah (9) highlight His might as protection and support for those steadfast in faith.
- Al-Hashr (59:23) links His might with Al-Jabbar (The Compeller), revealing His supreme authority that none can resist.
- Classical scholars explain that ‘izzah implies three layers:
- Power — none can overpower Him.
- Honor — none can humiliate whom He honors.
- Dominion — none can share in His sovereignty.
- To internalize Al-‘Aziz is to act with strength rooted in humility — to uphold truth fearlessly, while knowing all might belongs to Allah alone.
