The Punishment and Its Description
- Al-Ahqaf 46:21–26 – Hud warns them of the approaching torment; a devastating wind destroys them, leaving nothing but desolate dwellings.
- Adh-Dhariyat 51:41–42 – A mention of the “screaming wind” sent against ‘Ad, sparing nothing it passed over.
- Al-Qamar 54:18–21 – Brief recounting of their denial and the “violent roaring wind” that uprooted them.
Notes:
- The core narrative lies in Al-A‘raf 7, Hud 11, Ash-Shu‘ara 26, and Al-Ahqaf 46, while Adh-Dhariyat 51 and Al-Qamar 54 reinforce the imagery of their destruction.
- Thematically, these passages emphasize that material power without faith leads to ruin, and that the wind (rih sarsar) becomes a symbol of divine retribution against arrogance.
- Hud’s calm persistence contrasts with the people’s boasting, underscoring the Qur’an’s recurring theme of prophetic endurance versus human pride.
